2025 marks 80 years since Carter Thermal Industries Group was founded as a family‑owned engineering business. That long‑term perspective continues to shape how we operate, with environmental, social and governance considerations built into day‑to‑day decision‑making and delivery.

Turning ESG Commitment into Action

Our ESG Report 2025 outlines progress made during 2024–2025, a year focused on turning commitment into action. Across the Group, we delivered measurable improvements in environmental performance, strengthened governance, continued to invest in our people and improved transparency across the supply chain.

A key milestone was reached in mid‑2025, when our Lea Ford Road site achieved Net Zero operational status. This followed sustained investment in energy efficiency, electrification and low‑carbon building services. Over the same period, total emissions across the Group reduced by 36.44 per cent from baseline, with total energy consumption down by 40.90 per cent.

Strengthening Governance and Data‑Led Decision‑Making

These outcomes were supported by more robust data and clearer governance. During the year, we formalised Group Energy and Sustainable Procurement policies, strengthened reporting and review processes, and used emissions and energy data to guide investment. Practical changes included further LED upgrades, improved sub‑metering, reduced use of natural gas and wider adoption of hybrid and heat pump solutions.

We also continued to build capability. Investment in our Net Zero, Showcase and ME&R Training Centre, alongside modernised laboratories, has expanded our ability to design, test and deliver low‑carbon engineering solutions. These facilities support both our own decarbonisation programme and the work we do with customers.

Across the value chain, we extended the use of SEDEX with priority suppliers, supported by structured engagement and mentoring. This has improved transparency around labour standards and environmental performance, while helping inform our developing approach to Scope 3 emissions.

Investing in People and Communities

People and communities remained a priority. During the year we increased apprenticeship opportunities, expanded technical training and supported a range of employability and community initiatives, reinforcing our commitment to skills, inclusion and long‑term capability.

Looking ahead, our focus is on embedding the systems now in place, deepening Scope 3 engagement, accelerating circular economy initiatives and continuing to deliver practical, measurable sustainability outcomes as the Group enters its ninth decade.
