The Birmingham Wholesale Market is the UK’s largest fully integrated market, offering Horticultural, Fish, Meat and Poultry and Flowers. The old Birmingham Wholesale Market originally in the Centre of Birmingham in Digbeth finally closed its doors on the 5th of May 2018 and opened up at the new site in Aston, Birmingham, on 8th May 2018.
Carter Synergy, being a Birmingham based company are very proud to have been awarded a number of Full Design & Build projects for a large number of the Market traders, which included mezzanine structures, construction of offices & toilets and associated M&E and ventilation works, sprinkler systems and fire alarm systems all in accordance with building regulations and to the satisfaction of not only the traders but the Birmingham City Council. We also carried out the full refrigeration installation including the Coldroom structures and associated plant.
We carried out a wide diverse range of works listed below in all 6 of the units for George Perry Ltd, who are the Oldest Fruit and Veg Market wholesale Traders in the UK.

We also carried out the above works for George Haines, Hegashall and Georgio Veg Prep and two of the Meat & Poultry traders, Birmingham Egg and Tom Carr.
All refrigeration works, Coldrooms & Systems were supplied and installed for Total Produce in all 6 of their units along with all the M&E and Ventilation works. Coldstore structures and associated refrigeration systems were supplied and installed for Dunns Produce and R&RW Bartletts.
We installed the full M&E and Ventilation works for a further 6 traders (Circa 12 No units ) in the Meat & Poultry section.
The project duration was 24 weeks from start on site to completion and carried out through one of the coldest winters on record which was challenging at times with site closures due to snow and ice and deadlines to meet and plan all our resources to ensure we delivered, which we are proud to say we completed on time.
